Educated Latina Series Part 3: Don't forget your identity.

#educatedlatina

Part III: Don’t forget your identity or where you came from. 🙌🏼

I had to give this one to you on the new year! 💛

💡Our identity is the way we define ourselves.

💡It makes up our values, our beliefs, and our personality.

Everything up to this point in my life gives me my identity whether it be good, bad or indifferent.

From me being born in El Paso, Texas to growing up in Dallas, Texas. To the struggles of fear and insecurity if I could really make it through 12 years of school. To my role as a #leader, #mom and #Latina. To my interests in educating women about their health. To my passion to be an inspiration to you. All this makes up Erica Montes’ identity.

Yes these values, beliefs and dreams can change depending on the circumstance that challenges your identity, but you can’t deny what makes you you.

🔗Don’t change your beliefs or values just because of your success.

🔗Be authentic, don’t be ashamed.

🔗Use your language as a stepping stone or to open doors. Hey your Spanish might not be the best or you English might not be the best, but you are bilingual Mujer and that in and of itself is power! #ponderosa And even if you’re not bilingual, you still have that extra spark and knowledge of a Latina which still makes you special.

So now that you #educatedlatina have made it; remember where you started, learn from your struggles and share your successes. 🙌🏼 It is through us embracing where we came from and remembering where we started that we really make an impact and can give back to those who will follow after us! Because they are all watching and thinking, #sisepuede! 👍🏼

You are the same mujer in the past, as you are now, and as you are in the future. You just have more experiences and more education which add layers to your identity, but this doesn’t change your core. 📚

Embrace your past and look forward to the future because you are shining and damn you’re bright! ☀️

Can’t stop, won’t stop!🔥

Dr. E 💛

Feliz año nuevo!
